A permanently free tier intended to build a user base from which some proportion converts to paid.
The design constraint
The free tier must be genuinely useful and clearly limited in a dimension that grows with value — seats, volume, or advanced capability. Limits unrelated to how value scales produce users who are satisfied forever or who leave immediately.

Charging in proportion to consumption rather than by fixed subscription.
Product Qualified Lead (PQL)
A user whose product behaviour indicates readiness to buy — reaching a usage threshold, hitting a limit, or adopting a key capability.
Product-Led Growth (PLG)
A motion where the product itself drives acquisition, conversion and expansion — users experience value before speaking to anyone.
